Frances Madden takes her music to the world

Posted on October 19, 2016

Arden alumni and former school captain (2008) Frances Madden is taking her music to the world!  Frances is off to China this month where she has been invited to play at the JZ Club in Shanghai.  While there, she will also teach some masterclasses to young jazz musicians as part of a joint program with Berklee College of Music.

A professional musician and song writer, Frances released her first album If This Were a Dream in December 2014 and has enjoyed continued success, with ABC Jazz’s Mal Stanley describing her as a talented young vocalist and pianist and ‘one to watch’.

Members of the Arden community saw Frances perform recently at the Arden Swings event where she helped raise funds for the Arden Music Ensembles’ trip to China.

Frances will be performing in Melbourne soon after her return from China, but she does have two final 2016 performances with her band here in Sydney for anyone who would like to hear her special mix of jazz, blues and classics.  Her next Sydney show is at The Basement on 12th November and the second is at Foundry616 on 10th December (Note:  The Basement is an 18+ venue but Foundry616 allows U18 accompanied by an adult).  For more information including booking links, please visit Frances’ website at

In 2017 Frances will be playing live at the Sydney Opera House in a simulcast concert presented by Fine Music 102.5 FM.  We wish her continued success!
