Community

The following are examples of Arden's community involvement :

Bi-annual School Fair
The school Parents and Friends organise this gala fair at Beecroft Village Green. It is a major fund raiser and takes the whole school community two years to prepare. Each grade chooses the type of stall they run. It is a day when Arden as a community is on show.

Students visit local nursing homes in the area
Most grades take time to visit community centres including nursing homes and retirement villages to entertain the residents. We take the opportunity of Mother Day Fathers Day, Easter and Pensioners Week to develop the themes of these occasions as part of the presentation. We are a regular performing school at the Epping Baptist Sunday performances .

Parent evenings to assist in developing parenting skills
We are host to parenting evenings each year with prominent speakers who come to speak to parents about the home and ideas in dealing with children. These are very popular and attract a large number of parents from within our own community and also neighboring State and Independent Schools. Some of our speakers include Steve Biddulph, Dr John Irvine and Dr Loretta Giorcelli.

In 2000 Arden received a grant for development of a school based Drug Education Programme. Staff designed a course which included parent education evenings with panels of local and national speakers on the topic as it effects homes and families. This course runs every 2nd year at Arden

Beecroft Village Festival and Rotary Fairs
Arden is a prominent part of the organisation of these activities which are focal points of the Beecroft and Hills district. Students perform, parents help with stalls, sponsorship and organisation on the day.
