Each week children are involved in both Physical Education and sport and have the opportunity to represent their school. This is particularly so in Year 3 to 6.
In the Secondary school PDHPE lessons are included as part of the sporting curriculum.
In the Infants school a programme of Gross motor occurs. This gives a very good foundation for Physical Education lessons later in the school. A good adult/child ratio is gained by use of parents to assist our sports staff.
Our Specialist staff develop skills sessions that relate directly to the sports that are part of the House competition and also the Inter school Competitions.
Representative Sport is played on Saturdays in the Primary School and on weekday afternoons or evenings in the Secondary School.
Primary students represent Arden in the following sports: athletics, swimming, cross-country, gymnastics, T-ball, softball, minkey (mini hockey), hockey , netball, T-ball, basketball, rugby and soccer
Secondary students represent Arden in cricket, basketball, soccer (indoor/outdoor), rugby, netball, athletics, cross-country, softball, hockey and HZSA (Hills Zone Sports Association).
The Success of Arden on the sports field is superb when you consider the size of the schools they oppose.
A highlight of the sports program is a tour of New Zealand for a number of our available representative sports. Forty five students are selected every second year to tour. Return visits by New Zealand Schools to Arden maintain the interest in this tour.
As a member school of the JSHAA (Junior School Heads Association of Australia) our students are eligible for selection in NSW CIS (Combined Independent Schools) representative teams in most sports offered by the school. Many students have gone on to represent in the various sports at State and National Level . |
