Curriculum

At Arden each child in our care is recognised for their unique gifts and is treated as a very special individual. Our Pre-School curriculum is an exciting first step as we encourage children to become lifelong learners. We provide a Christian, nurturing and educational environment for children to prepare them for the future. Our Pre-School curriculum is developmentally appropriate and based on the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

Learning through play

We believe that children learn best through play and that any program needs to have meaning and relevance to their life in order to engage them. We plan activities that cover their particular interests and let them enjoy the wonders of childhood. It is through play that children develop the foundations required for later academic learning in literacy and numeracy. Through play children also show us what they have learned and what they are trying to understand.

Learning by doing

Our program provides many opportunities for the children to grow and learn in all areas of their development. We believe that hands-on learning experiences help children to learn best. Children learn by doing, so the children in our care are encouraged to interact with their environment, the equipment provided and with each other in an atmosphere that is safe and nurturing. It is important that our children have FUN!

Our program

Based on the EYLF five learning outcomes for children, we want to build on a child’s interests and abilities, ensuring that the children in our care:

  • Have a strong sense of identity. (EYLF Outcome 1)
  • Are connected with and contribute to their world. (EYLF Outcome 2)
  • Have a strong sense of wellbeing. (EYLF Outcome 3)
  • Are confident and involved learners. (EYLF Outcome 4)
  • Are effective communicators. (EYLF Outcome 5)

We provide a two day and a three day program for families. Our two day program is for children aged 3-4 years of age while our three day program caters for children aged 4-5 years (the year prior to school entry).

Parental involvement

Arden believes that parents and carers are valued partners in the care and education of their children at Pre-School. Our Pre-School encourages parental involvement, providing a number of opportunities for parents to get involved throughout the year.

Our staff

Arden employs three qualified, highly motivated and professional staff with a passion for early childhood education. As educators we believe our role is to discover each child’s unique gifts and to encourage a love of learning, a positive attitude and sound values that will underpin their journey through life.

Our onsite occupational therapist visits and works with both our two and three day Pre-School children once a week, supporting the work of the staff in developing each child’s gross motor and fine motor skills.

Arden employs an onsite speech pathologist who also works with our Pre-School children.
