Music is a forte at Arden.
All students are constantly involved in and exposed to it for fun, stimulation and enrichment.
Singing has a high priority. The children sing at every assembly, in class groups, in the special Year 2 singing group and in the school choir.
Music specialists provide a comprehensive study of music in class periods. Extra curricular music groups for voluntary participation are very popular and include the Primary Choir, Music Club (which also provides recorder tuition), String Ensemble and the School Band (with both beginner and advanced groups). Tuition in piano and most band instruments is available on site.
All Arden musical groups are in demand for performances. We perform in the Sydney Town Hall every second year as part of the JSHAA Music Festival and groups regularly perform for local retirement villages and nursing homes.
Bi-annual school concerts involving all students have included productions of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, the Daniel Jazz, rock musical items and spectacular dancing displays.
The May Music Scholarship is awarded annually by audition to a student displaying musical excellence and potential.
Music is linked to Design and Technology by use of a MIDI link to computers through a keyboard, enabling students to create music in written and performance modes. |
