| Arden has an approach which takes the current K-6 syllabus and blends it with the traditional approach to Maths. Movement of students across grades occurs for appropriate Maths tuition. Children work through the Maths curriculum; from using concrete materials to discussion of the concepts and finally to pen and paper calculations. Problem Solving is seen as an integral part of the curriculum and involves a great deal of logic exercises. A specialist teacher assists small groups in this area. A special group of talented students meet to further problem solve each week but each child has the opportunity to experience problem solving activities. Tables are essential. Children in years 3 to 8 are involved in the NSW Maths Competition. Each year Arden students are placed well. Years 4, 5 & 6 are also involved in the Maths Olympiad. |
