Arden has a deliberate policy to equip all students at Arden with skills in both IBM and Mac mediums.

As our students feed so many schools we work across both of these mediums. It is essential that we adequately prepare them for their next stage.

There is a network available to the students and also individual computers in each classroom. Laptop computers are also available for some areas of the curriculum and for ease of movement about the school.  Some laptops are linked by a Lan system Each week students in Years 2 to 6 have a lesson in the computer lab with their classroom teacher followed up with a lesson from our specialist computer teacher.  Students are taught to use the computer as a tool and not a toy.

They are taught keyboard skills, desktop publishing, problem solving which supports curriculum areas, as well as gaining experience in the use of multi media, animation, computer generated embroidery, graphic scanning and computer generated music(midi).

Each child is familiar with a large number of software packages with but Microsoft packages allow the cross platform (IBM/MAC) development.  The Internet is used extensively by class groups and individuals.

Each Child Year2 to Year6 has supervised access to the web.

Music is linked to Design and Technology by use of a MIDI link to computers through a keyboard, enabling students to create music in written and performance modes.
