Arden Secondary Europe Tour
Home!
After quite an uneventful and quite short trip - at least it seemed that to some! We are home.
Thanks heaps to everyone for the great time away!
Special thanks should go to Mr May, our intrepid leader whose drive and determination made this trip possible! Thanks for the experiences we would never have otherwise experienced!

Last day!
We are at Kuala Lumpur Airport at the moment, we have a few minutes to wait and a great opportunity to update the website!
The trip has been quite uneventful, tiring but with some good movies.
EVERYONE is very excited about getting home! The students have been fantastic. The services we have used have been fantastic!
Day ?? in London...
Well I am not sure what day it is now....I just know that it is the last full day. It is now just before breakfast and today we have ajam packed day again, visiting the British Museum, then off for some shopping to clear out those unwanted Travellers Cheques (Just kidding). Down Oxford Street to Hemleys (the toy store - yippee!) then onto Harrods (yes, for you Jan!) and then down to Picadilly Circle back to the squashy tube and then pack to be picked up for the airport (yes, you are right - there was no chance for a shower in that time - you will smell us coming off I am sure!) See the London Page for more details.

Day 11 & 12 Bath and the Cotswolds...
Unfortunately, the website was not able to be updated yesterday (despite carrying the computer around all day!). The comment was often something like: "....wireless Intanet?!? I weckon if we 'ad that kind orf technology awound 'ere it'd be grand!"

Day 10 Canterbury to Bath...
Walking around Canterbury, going to church, lunch in Canterbury and then a relaxing drive to Bath...
Day 9 Driving from Arras to Canterbury...
We spent yesterday driving from Arras to Dunkirk, viewing the memorials there and the very flat beach - which made the retreat of the troops onto ships almost impossible!). We found lunch in Dunkirk then headed off to Calais, where we boarded the ferry (watch out for those super strength seasick tablets!) and headed for the white cliffs of Dover and a short trip to Canterbury!
The evening was spent at dinner then a brisk walk into town for a viewing of the Canterbury Cathedral by night and then an Ice Cream shouted by Mr May! (Although the local Maccas took quite some convincing that they were able to make 40 ice creams!!)
This morning we head off to church and then onto have a bath....I don't get this one, I had a bath before we left??? I don't need another one yet?!?!?!? ;-)
Note the new link to the Adventures of Scruffy page!
Day 8 Driving from Paris to Arras...
We are currently on the bus, with a driver who is not keen to take us to anywhere other than Arras, but we are working on it. We are looking forward to a quieter day today, with a 3 hour (or so) bus ride then visiting some places along the way.
Note the new walking distances information on the left. Some parents have expressed concern over the number of photos that feature food (especially Gelati and Pizza!), so I thought I would fill you in on the distances we have travelled by foot, this does not include the time we spend waiting in queues...so your children should come back at least a little fitter - yes, I said Fitter - not fatter!
Also note that if you would like to send a message to your son/daughter/niece/nephew/friend etc, send email to c.woldhuis@arden.nsw.edu.au and we will pass on your message.
What a great day! Everyone enjoyed the day - what a treat! See the Paris page for photos
Paris! and today - Disney Land
See the Paris page and today's adventures at Palace of Versailles and The Lourve!
Day 4 in Rome then Florence...
|
The highlight for second visit to the Vatican was John and Aaron Blake were able to get through the crowds and were able to see the whole of St Peters Basilica including. The highlight for them was after coming out of the Catacombs, the Pope was in the Basilica giving his blessing. |

Florence is another amazing place. In many ways quite different to Rome, much quieter, less rushed, more refined....but in many other ways identical to Rome....Pizza, Gelati and Coffee! See more of Florence on the Florence page |
Day 3 in Rome...
![]() |
Rome wasn't built in a day!We certainly found that out! In fact, it was rebuilt a number of times. The place is fantastic, we are experiencing Italian culture like many have never done before. Walking trips involve stopping at every second Gelati place for a new flavour; going to the supermarket involves looking at every item in every aisle; pizza is the only snack to eat; and the staff are very wide awake from all the fresh coffee! |

Wooohooo!!! We are on our way...Question: How do you keep 30 pumped teenagers quiet and well behaved for 8 hours straight?? Answer: Put a 4 inch video screen in front of them with Movies, TV and Music on demand, as well as inter-seat games and a regular supply of food! Although I think the teachers are better at some of those older games hey Ben! Air Arden has hit the skies. Click on the Sydney link to see some of the highlights so far.... |
