Students Soap Up For Charity

Arden Anglican School students got their hands dirty — and cleaned up — on the weekend. A car wash fundraiser at MRT Performance. Rhodes. helped them raise $1500 for communities in need in Cambodia and Vietnam. The Epping school’s Cambodia/Vietnam mission team will be able to personally present their donations to the communities when they visit in the June holidays.

A team of 40 worked in shifts throughout Saturday to raise the funds. Mission co-ordinator Elizabeth Dunn said this year’s tour would include many community service activities including renovating a school, assisting at a disability orphanage. building houses, teaching English and planting fruit trees. “Our primary aim is to provide service to communities in need, show compassion and show that their lives are important to us.” she said. “Our students also benefit as they immerse themselves in a new culture, gain an appreciation of the history and politics of Vietnam and Cambodia. broaden their perspectives beyond their domestic horizons and show practical care for others.”
