Dear Staff, Students, Parents and Members of the Arden School Community
On behalf of the School Council, it is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Mr Justin Beckett as Arden’s 15th Principal, effective 17 January 2022.
Following a thorough recruitment process, utilising the services of Odgers Berndtson and applications from 20+ candidates, the Council made the unanimous decision to appoint Mr Beckett. Justin is currently the Principal of Trinity Anglican College in Albury, a co-educational school of 1,200 students and 130 staff. Trinity is the largest independent regional school in New South Wales and Justin’s headship has been described as warm and kind, with genuine care for the community, underpinned by his Anglican faith and values. He has led the school through tremendous cultural and strategic development, restructure, and innovation. Under his transformational and consultative leadership style, the school enrolments have grown, staff development has been prioritised and significant capital works have been undertaken.
Justin is motivated to lead Arden as he felt a deep connection with our motto – In God my Joy – explaining that joy has been a hallmark of his leadership over many years in independent schools, as well as his life as a Christian. Educated at Hale School, the leading Anglican school for boys in Perth, Justin has taught in Anglican schools in Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. His academic qualifications include Bachelor of Arts – Curtin University WA, Graduate Diploma in Education – Edith Cowan University WA, Master of Arts – University of Western Australia and a Graduate Certificate of Management from the Australian Institute of Management WA. Justin has a background in English and Drama teaching.
As the new Principal of Arden, Justin aims to furnish our young people with a ‘toolkit for life’; with the courage, character and skills to create lifelong opportunities, and to be purposeful leaders and contributors to the world.
Justin is married to Zoe, a Stage 6 Physics teacher and Head of Science. They have four children: Joshua (18), Samuel (15), Jesse (13) and Johnny (9). They are a close family who enjoy music and the performing arts, outdoor sports, and attending church together.
We are sure you will join us in welcoming Justin in 2022, our Centenary year, and in the meantime please keep Justin, his family, Trinity Anglican College and Arden in your prayers. We appreciate your patience and support as we have undertaken this very important recruitment for our school.
