BEECROFT MASTERPLAN

Honour the Past, Create the Future

For more than a century, Arden Anglican School has stood at the heart of the Beecroft community, shaping generations of young people through faith, learning and care. Since opening in 1922, Arden has sought to serve both its students and the wider community by providing an exceptional co-educational learning experience grounded in Christian values.

Guided by our Strategic Plan, Grow in Christ, Grow in Learning, and Grow in Community, we are now looking to the future through the redevelopment of our Junior Campus. The Arden Beecroft Campus Development (ABCD) is a multi-stage project that embodies our theme: Honour the Past, Create the Future.

This exciting redevelopment will deliver inspiring, contemporary learning spaces designed to enhance student engagement, improve educational outcomes, and prepare our students for a sustainable future. The first stage includes a new section of the campus with nine brand-new classrooms and breakout spaces, alongside upgrades to existing areas that will make them more dynamic and inspiring. Over time, this redevelopment will enable Arden to become a three-stream school, opening our doors to more students and families within the Beecroft community.

Our approach has been thoughtful and deliberate. We are proud of our 100-year relationship with Beecroft and are committed to ensuring that new designs reflect and respect the character and heritage of this beautiful suburb.

As we prepare Arden for the next century, we invite you to join us on this journey, one that celebrates our history, strengthens our community, and builds a vibrant future for generations to come.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Arden Beecroft Campus Development?

The Arden Beecroft Campus Development (ABCD) is a multi-stage redevelopment of Arden Anglican School’s Junior Campus in Beecroft. Guided by the theme Honour the Past, Create the Future, the project will deliver modern learning spaces that reflect the School’s 100-year heritage while preparing for the next century of learning and community engagement.

Why is the redevelopment necessary?

The Junior Campus requires renewal to support contemporary learning and future growth. The redevelopment will deliver modern, flexible facilities that enhance educational outcomes, student wellbeing, and sustainability, ensuring Arden remains a vibrant part of the Beecroft community for generations to come.

What are the main features of Stage 1?

Stage 1 will include:

  • Nine (9)  modern classrooms
  • Breakout spaces for small-group learning opportunities
  • Upgrades to selected existing learning areas
  • New outdoor play and learning spaces
  • Under-cover ‘Kiss and drive’ access with off-road car-queuing
  • Improved accessibility and safety features
  • This phase will also provide flexibility to enlarge to a three-stream structure, increasing capacity for families while enriching the learning environment.
When will construction begin and how long will it take?

Arden plans to lodge a Development Application (DA) with Council by the end of 2025. Whilst timings are subject to change, construction is anticipated to commence in 2027, with completion expected by the end of 2028 and occupancy at the beginning of the 2029 school year.

Will the redevelopment change the character of Beecroft?

No, the design will respect and celebrate Beecroft’s unique heritage and charm. Arden has engaged Weir Phillips Heritage to ensure the redevelopment complements the suburb’s character and preserves significant buildings such as Lorne, Nelson House and The Stables.

How will the safety of students, staff and families be ensured during construction?

A comprehensive traffic management plan and health and safety plan will be developed as part of the local council development application. The School will implement secure fencing, , signage, and restricted zones to keep construction areas separate from daily school life. All contractors will comply with strict safety and child protection requirements.

How will noise, dust and vibration be managed?

One of the great benefits of this first stage of development is that there will be minimal disruption to daily school activities. The significant building work will be happening on a new section of our campus that is not currently used by the School. This means that, during the construction period, the school day should be able to run as usual.

Will there be changes to traffic or site access during construction?

Traffic management plans will be developed to maintain safe and efficient movement around the campus. Heavy vehicle routes will be designated, and any temporary changes to drop-off or pick-up areas will be clearly communicated to families in advance.

Will construction disrupt daily learning or school activities?

The project will be carefully staged to minimise disruption. Major works will take place on land not currently in use, and daily teaching and co-curricular programs will continue as normal throughout the construction period.

Will there be changes to pick-up and drop-off?

Some adjustments may be required at times, but clear communication and signage will ensure safe and efficient movement for families. Updated information will be shared through Schoolbox and the School’s website.

How is the redevelopment being funded?

Funding for the project will come from a combination of Arden’s capital works budget, responsible bank financing, and additional fundraising from the Arden community.

Will the redevelopment affect school fees?

There is no planned impact on tuition fees as a result of the redevelopment. Families and community members will, however, have opportunities to engage voluntarily through fundraising initiatives that contribute to shaping Arden’s future.

What measures are in place to ensure the project stays within budget?

Comprehensive budget planning and regular monitoring and reporting, will ensure the project stays on schedule and within the approved budget.

How will the School keep the community informed?

Regular updates will be provided through the Arden website, Schoolbox, and social media channels. Families and neighbours will receive timely information about milestones, project progress, and any temporary changes to school operations.
